LIZELLA, GA, October 21, 2010 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stanford Who's Who welcomes Mary D. Sams to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her exceptional effort in the Education Industry. As Principal of Ingram-Pye Elementary School, as well as throughout her brilliant 35 year career, Mary has consistently demonstrated the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.
Mrs. Sams is the newly appointed principal at Ingram-Pye Elementary School. She was appointed by the Bibb County Superintendent to transform the school and to bring about changes that would lead to improved academic achievement. Ingram-Pye is a Promise Neighborhood School. Mary spent the last 4 years at Morgan Elementary where she led the school to make the required yearly performance goals all four years.
Ingram-Pye Elementary School is part of the Bibb County School District. Their mission is to educate all students through a comprehensive program of instruction that addresses differences in learning styles and allows students to develop academically, socially, emotionally and physically. They view technology as a key learning tool that stimulates the imagination and equips students with the skills necessary to function in an increasingly technological society.
Mrs. Sams is responsible for supervising 51 teachers, 15 support staff members and 623 students in grade Pre-K through 5. She is a member of the Bibb Elementary Principal's Association of which she was the president in 2009-2010. Mary's greatest accomplishments thus far are her 26 year old daughter who is an Educational Therapist and works with emotionally disturbed children; and her 25 year old son who served two tours of duty in Iraq and is now serving in the Air Force Reserve. He is currently enrolled at Savannah State University, in Savannah, Georgia.
During her educational career, she earned an Education Specialist in Leadership and Administration degree. Mary attributes her success to the motivation and encouragement given to her by her mother. She also considers the undergraduate education which she received at FISK University a major part of her success. Mary believes that within five years she will be retired from the Bibb County school system and will be working at the Mercer University as an adjunct professor, or in some other capacity supervising new teachers.
