Professor Lawrence Scheg Honored for Excellence in Reading Education
Professor Lawrence Scheg celebrated for 40 years of service

MODESTO, CA, April 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Lawrence Scheg, Professor of Reading at Modesto Junior College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

Professor Lawrence Scheg has led a long and impressive career in education spanning over four decades, the last of which he has dedicated his efforts as a Professor of Reading at Modesto Junior College. Specialized in integrative teaching in reading instruction, he assists freshman and sophomore students as they learn basic, intermediate and advanced reading skills. Prior to joining Modesto Junior College, Prof. Scheg taught a graduate level program at Chapman University, where he instructed aspiring teachers on how to implement the teaching of reading and study skills into a variety of different curricula. Before that, he served as a reading instructor at Walter Panas High School and a teacher at Santa Barbara City College. During his tenure at Walter Panas, he played a pioneering role in creating district, state and federally funded reading labs.

In addition to his work at Modesto, Scheg is a published author of over seven books and presents at conferences on his specialized body of knowledge. He is known for his hard work and integrative teaching methods. Scheg holds a master's degree in education from Western Connecticut State University, and a bachelor's degree in English from Niagara University, as well as a certification in reading. Driven to improve education processes, he will seek to continue teaching and consulting as he moves forward in his career. In his free time, he enjoys coaching baseball and kayaking, and lends his philanthropic support to the Boy Scouts of America.
